Harper’s Bazaar taps style guru Carine Roitfeld for the magazine’s September issue. The former Paris Vogue editor-in-chief conceptualized, styled and cast the worldwide feature with 19 different covers featuring some of the most influential women in fashion, including: Penelope Cruz, Linda Evangelista, Lara Stone, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Lauren Hutton and none other than Lady Gaga.
For her cover, Mother Monster brings along her baby, French bulldog Asia, who completes Gaga’s ladylike look also featuring a pink tweed Chanel dress, jacket and printed purse.
Adding to the issue’s star-power, Lady Gaga is interviewed by Karl Lagerfeld and they bond over their love for animals. The Chanel creative director admits his kitty is one of his muses, while the Applause singer calls Asia her “inspiration for many things.”;
Another source of creativity for the popstar is her love of vintage. “I’ve been recently enjoying looking far and wide for the best vintage fashion I can find. Clothing with a story, a past. Heavy fabrics, jewels, veils,”; she admits. “My latest trip is feeling a connection to all women throughout history through fashion. I love wearing clothes knowing that I’m carrying the spirit of previous fashionistas, and living out more of their fantasies, and my own. I believe clothes carry the soul of the designer and the person wearing them forever, so I look for clothes with a soul. Perhaps it’s something only I can see. But I know it’s real.”;
Be sure to check out all the stunning covers, August 19, when the biggest issue of Bazaar hits newsstands.
