Hillary Clinton is pulling out all the stops as the Nov. 8 presidential election nears, and spent Saturday night at a star-studded “Get Out the Vote” event in Philadelphia where she was joined by ardent supporter Katy Perry as part of her “Love Trumps Hate” concert series.
“Let me hear you roar for Hillary!” said Perry, wearing blue leather leggings and matching blue coat on which was written: “I’m with Madame President.”
Clinton even attempted some dancing (although the less said about that the better, according to U.K.’s the Telegraph) while Perry sang some lyrics from Janet Jackson’s “Nasty”, clearly referencing the third and final presidential debate when opponent Donald Trump derided Clinton as “such a nasty woman.”
Along with Perry, the event — also included such luminaries as former “Will & Grace” star Debra Messing, “Grey’s Anatomy”/”Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
During her performance, Perry removed her blue coat to reveal a shimmering stars-and-stripes dress beneath. “It’s OK to have some fun and still change the world right?” she said. “Shouldn’t we have some fun while we make the world a better place?”
She also told the crowd about hitting the campaign trail on Clinton’s behalf. “I’ve been knocking on doors,” she told the crowd. “A couple of weeks ago I knocked on college dorm rooms in Las Vegas. The smell was interesting. But I think we got the vote.”
She concluded: “Let’s continue supporting our girl and in three days lets make history. See you at the polls next Tuesday!”
