Meghan Markle On Striking A Balance: ‘My Life Shifts From Refugee Camps To Red Carpets’

Meghan Markle is opening up about her passion for humanitarian work – a common interest she shares with her new boyfriend, Prince Harry.

In a candid post shared to her lifestyle blog The Tig, the “Suits” actress talks about the rigid dichotomy between her two worlds: the spotlight of show business and her life as a World Vision Ambassador.

“My life shifts from refugee camps to red carpets, I choose them both because these worlds can, in fact, coexist,” she writes. “I’ve never wanted to be a lady who lunches – I’ve always wanted to be a woman who works. And this type of work is what feeds my soul and fuels my purpose.”

Sharing pictures of her recent weeklong trip to Rwanda with her readers, Markle explains she helped build a well and met with several locals who have made a permanent mark on her life.

She continues, “Guiding my heart though the swinging pendulum from excess to lack of access is sometimes challenging.”

Her purpose in life, she adds, lies in leveraging her power as an actress to propel as much positive change in the world: “To use whatever status I have managed to garner as an actress, and maximize my opportunity for impact with the moments of value that resonate far greater than an audition ever could.”
