Stephen King Returns To Twitter After ‘Shutting Down’ Social Media Account In Wake Of Trump’s Win

Since leaving Twitter the day following the U.S. Presidential Election, horror story author Stephen King is back online. “No more book recommendations, politics, or amusing dog pictures for the immediate future. I’m shutting down,” he tweeted to his 2.5 million followers on Nov. 9.

King, who has been an active presence of Twitter, frequently engaging with fans, was a vocal Clinton supporter. Before the results were in, he called the presidential election “the ugliest election in living memory.”

Before signing off of his account, King implied that Americans must now own up to the political landscape under the Trump regime, writing, “If you break it, you own it.”
