Miley Cyrus is visibly heartbroken after Hillary Clinton’s failed attempt to become America’s first female president.
Posting an emotional video to Twitter, Cyrus called for compassion, peace and empathy amid Donald Trump’s successful bid for presidency: “Hopefully we adjust and we accept everyone for who they are, and, so, Donald Trump, I accept you… This hurts to say, but I even accept you as President of the United States.”
The “Wrecking Ball” singer also doubled-down on her support for Clinton. “I still think that, in her lifetime, she deserves to be the first female president,” wrote Cyrus. “And that’s what makes me so sad. I wish she had an opportunity, because she fought for so long and because I believe her when she says that she loves this country. This is all she’s ever done; she’s given her life to make it better.”
Cyrus, 23, was a consistent advocate throughout the campaign and ended her speech on a touching note: “Thank you, Hillary, for inspiring all of us.”
