Actors often speak highly of the movies they are in, sometimes as a professional courtesy, but Michael Shannon plays by his own set of rules.
Shannon, who had a cameo in ‘Batman v Superman’, previously said to not caring how the movie ended. This time, he admitted to barely having seen the film at all. “People ask me about this all the time. Okay, I’ll tell you the god’s honest truth. Zack [Snyder] is gonna kill me for this – he’s gonna kill me. I watched it once and I fell asleep… I know, I know. I was on an international flight and I was tired.”
The 42-year-old actor revealed the hilarious news in an interview with Fandango. Shannon played the main antagonist, General Zod, in 2013’s “Man of Steel”. Although he isn’t champing at the bit to do more superhero films, he did give credit where credit was due. “When I did ‘Man of Steel’ I thought the story was interesting. I thought it was relevant. It was about a civilization that destroys the planet they live on and goes looking for another one. Ring any bells? That’s why I did it. I didn’t do it because I felt I needed a big comic book franchise – I honestly thought it was a beautiful story.”
The “Revolutionary Road” and “8 Mile” star is currently working on “The Shape of Water”, directed by Guillermo del Toro.
