The NME have crowned Radiohead as the “Most Influential Artist Today.”;
The critically adored English band topped the music mag’s poll, beating out fellow Top 5 finishers The Strokes, The White Stripes, Kanye West and David Bowie.
“Just as The Beatles came to embody the ’60s, Thom Yorke is the rock star who most clearly reflects our times,“; declared the New Musical Express. “Nearly two decades ago he looked into the future and it weirded him out. “OK Computer’ and “Kid A’ laid the foundation for 21st-century music; one that cared not for reductive genre boxes but expected boundary-leaping experimentation from artists as standard.“
There was also a bit of Canadian content on the “Most Influential Artists”; list. NME plunked Death From Above 1979 in the #49 spot and Grimes has been placed at slot #72.
