Kate Gosselin revealed earlier this year to People that she enrolled her 12-year-old son, Collin, in a learning facility away from home. “Collin has special needs,” Gosselin told the magazine in August. “There’s a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things. This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own.”
In an update on Collin’s treatment to People, Gosselin said she now realizes that the program will help Collin “learn the skills he needs to be the best him he can be. This is all new to me and to our family.”
For the “Kate Plus 8” star, the road ahead for her son is uncertain, but the care he is currently receiving has been comforting. “He is so clearly exactly where he needs to be, getting precisely what he needs – it comforts me as a mother, because when you, as a mom, can’t give your kids what they need, it is a huge comfort to find people who can,” she added.
The time away from her son has been difficult for Gosselin, but knows it’s for the best. “He’s where he needs to be right now, and I can feel good about that.”
