Bruce Springsteen made headlines a few weeks back when he had to be rescued by a crew of New Jersey after his motorcycle broke down — the Boss may be born to run but his bike apparently isn’t.
When Springsteen’s pal and fellow rock icon Billy Joel heard about it, he called him up and asked a very pointed question: “Was that the bike I built for you?”
According to the New York Post‘s Page Six, Joel regaled the audience at his Nov. 21 concert at NYC’s Madison Square Garden with the story, which was capped off by Springsteen’s response: yes, it was that bike that broke down, but he told Joel, “No worries.”
Quipped the Piano Man to the crowd: “No good deed goes unpunished.”
The bike was an Italian-made Moto Guzzi, reports the Post, which Joel custom-built at his 20th Century Cycles in Oyster Bay, Long Island.
