Netflix Introduces Downloading For Those Times You Want To Binge But Just Can’t Stream

Anyone who’s ever watched streaming content on a mobile device then lost that precious Wi-Fi connection has faced the dilemma of continuing to watch — and racking up potentially huge data charges — or waiting until Wi-Fi can be regained.

As the pre-eminent source of streaming content, Netflix has recognized this problem and now offers a solution by offering subscribers the choice of downloading its content.

“While many members enjoy watching Netflix at home, we’ve often heard they also want to continue their ‘Stranger Things’ binge while on airplanes and other places where Internet is expensive or limited,” writes Eddy Wu, Netflix’s director of product innovation, in a post on the company’s official blog.

“Many of your favourite streaming series and movies are already available for download, with more on the way,” he adds, listing such fan-favourite Netflix series as “Orange Is the New Black”, “Narcos” and “The Crown” as being available for download immediately.

In order to get started, suggests Wu, simply update the Netflix app on your portable device and get ready to download to your heart’s content.
