UPDATE: The slate of performers at this year’s Polaris Music Prize gala has been revealed.
Basia Bulat, Jessy Lanza, Mac DeMarco, Owen Pallett, Shad and Tanya Tagaq have all been confirmed to play the Toronto-set gala which will be hosted by Jay Baruchel. Members of Arcade Fire and YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN will also be in attendance.
The 2014 Polaris Music Prize will be awarded on September 22 with $30,000 going to winning artist.

The 2014 Polaris Music Prize nomination slate has undergone a significant trim.
This year’s Polaris short list was announced today, reducing the number of albums in the running for the honour from 41 to 10. Offerings from Arcade Fire, Drake and Tanya Tagaq made the cut, while albums from Chromeo, DIANA and Solids did not make it beyond the long list border.
The short list announcement also featured the reveal that actor Jay Baruchel will be serving as the gala host when the winner is revealed on September 22. Last year’s Polaris Music Prize winner was Godspeed You! Black Emperor for their album “Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend!.
