Lauren Graham dropped by “The Late Show” last night, with host Stephen Colbert revealing he’s a big fan of “The Gilmore Girls” — even admitting he and his wife spent last Saturday in their jammies binge-watching the just-released Netflix revival, “Gilmre Girls: A Year in the Life”.

However, Colbert also wanted to get to the bottom of a conspiracy theory that erupted online, alleging that when Graham and her co-stars are swigging java at Luke’s Diner they’re actually sipping from empty mugs.

This, declares Graham, is an affront to her coffee-drinking street cred.

“I want to tell you one thing, that is a true thing,” Graham declared dramatically. “There is always coffee in my cup — always. That is a pet peeve of mine. I’m holding it. I’m holding it like this [picks it up]. I’m looking at snow, I’m holding the cup. I’m drinking. I love the controversies that are cropping up!”

During the interview, she also admitted that she is more than appreciative for the opportunity to return to Stars Hollow.

“You hardly get a chance anytime in life to appreciate the moment you’re in while you’re in it,” Graham said. “The fact that it was the people who brought us back, and we got to finish a story we hadn’t gotten to finish, and this character I love so much … I was just walking around like, ‘Thank you so much for being here.’ I was just a freak. I had so much appreciation, it was overwhelming. I’m not a person who cries very easily. I cried almost every day.”

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on Global; you can also watch full episodes online.
