Sitting down with “CBS Sunday Morning”, Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards talk passion and music days before the debut of the band’s latest album “Blue & Lonesome” on Friday.
In an interview airing Sunday, Dec. 4, the rock legends get candid about what drives them to keep making music after all these years. “I can’t imagine not being enthusiastic about it,” Richards says. “And as long as I’ve got the guys, a solid group of guys around me that feel the same way – then I start to feel immortal for a little while. On stage, sometimes, I feel immortal.”
Their new album, they admit, wasn’t the album they intended to create. The 12-song collection of covers, which was recorded over three days in the legendary British Grove Studios in west London, proves that the band’s chemistry is still very much alive. “I don’t really explain that,” Jagger says of the band’s indescribable spark. “It’s not something I analyze. You create a momentum yourself. And then something interesting comes up, which is outside the ordinary – doing a blues album in three days, you know, reinvigorates your interest somewhat.”
Tune-in to “CBS Sunday Morning” at 10:30 a.m. ET for the complete interview.
