Mariah Carey dropped by NBC’s “Today” on Friday to promote her new docu-series “Mariah’s World”, but what hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb really wanted to know was about her rumoured relationship with Bryan Tanaka. After the “Hero” singer was photographed frolicking on a Hawaiian beach with the hunky dancer, 13 years her junior, she responded to the hosts’ question by pleading the fifth.

“I refuse to answer under the grounds that it may incriminate me,” replied Carey with a sly smile before quickly changing the subject.

Carey also commented on her recent split from ex-fiance James Packer, and her dismissiveness spoke volumes when Kotb asked if she ever considered “pulling the plug” on the show when they called off their engagement.

“Oh, I can’t give somebody that much power,” Carey said. “Are you kidding me? … You gotta keep on pushing.”

In addition, Carey opened up about her still-amicable relationship with ex-husband Nick Cannon, the result of the former couple placing the needs of their children above all else. “It’s important for the kids,” she explained. “He’s part of their lives forever.”
