Update: Suge Knight Shot Multiple Times At Chris Brown’s Pre-VMA Party

Update: Marion “Suge”; Knight’s family has released a statement to Revolt magazine in response to widespread media reports of his shooting.

“The family of Suge Knight ask that you keep Suge in your prayers and to stray away from the negativity portrayed by the media,”; the message reads. “Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he’s human. He’s done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that.”;

The Associated Press reports that two other people were hit by bullets during the late night shooting. The unidentified man and woman are being treated at local hospitals and are expected to survive.

Police are still searching for a suspect and declined to offer additional details into the investigation.


Music producer Suge Knight was shot multiple times at 1OAK night club in Los Angeles early Sunday morning.

Knight was attending a star-studded pre-VMA party which was also saw the likes of Young Jeezy, Lil’ Twist, Derek Hough, Mark Ballas and Tyson Beckford in attendance. The event, co-hosted by Chris Brown, was in celebration the singer’s upcoming sixth studio album, X.

When two gunshots rang out at 1:35 a.m PT, the crowd immediately dispersed. Video obtained by TMZ shows clubgoers crouching down for cover as security guards rushed to Brown’s side. “People were screaming and yelling and most ran out immediately,”; a witness told Us Weekly. “The floor was covered with glass from everyone dropping their drinks.”;

At 1:50 a.m. PT, police arrived on the scene and forced all attendees to exit with their arms raised.

The former Death Row Records CEO, who was shot in the arm and stomach, did not require assistance exiting the venue but was escorted to safety by police and later placed into an ambulance. According to TMZ, the 49-year-old is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery shortly after the incident.

Brown promoted the unofficial pre-VMA party on his Instagram late Saturday night by posting a promotional image along with the caption “Pre-VMA Party @1oakla tonight! #XTheAlbum.”; Hours later, the VMA nominee took to Twitter to express his frustration with last night’s shooting. “It’s disappointing that we as a society can’t have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the bullsh**!!!” the rapper tweeted.
