Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Upcoming Zombie Film Nabs U.S. Distribution

By Steven Shehori, .

Sure, the upcoming film Maggie has zombies, deadly viruses, and one Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger, but it’s far from some formualic action potboiler. Which may explain why the folks over at Lionsgate have just acquired the North American distribution rights.

Maggie — which is expected to hit theatres early next year — tells the story of a man (Arnold) who must deal with the helplessness of watching his infected young daughter (Abigail Breslin) slowly turn into a a flesh-eating zombie.  So yep, it’s a somber drama: and a heart-wrenching one at that.

The film was directed by Henry Hobson, a newcomer whose resume to date is comprised of designing title sequences for TV shows, movies, and video games.

Maggie has all the ingredients that spell commercial excitement—a compelling script and an ‘A’ list superstar surrounded by a world-class cast,” notes Lionsgate’s Co-Chief Operating Officer Steve Beeks. “We’re delighted to continue our relationship with Arnold Schwarzenegger, who turns in a performance that marks a dramatic departure from his action persona on a film that will resonate with thriller aficionados everywhere.”
