We already know how cool he looks revving up a Harley, but director Guy Ritchie thinks Sons of Anarchy“s Charlie Hunnam would look even cooler with a crown on his head and Excalibur in his hand in the role of King Arthur.
The King Arthur project, reports Deadline, is a huge priority for Warner Bros., which hopes to spin the iconic tale of the legendary king into a blockbuster film franchise that will span six movies. According to Deadline, Charlie Hunnam is Ritchie’s #1 choice for the role.
In its report, Deadline details the various attempts at King Arthur-derived movies that never made it off the ground over the past few years, with the likes of Colin Farrell and Game of Thrones” Kit Harrington tapped to play Arthur in aborted projects.
No official announcement has yet been made, but Deadline is also reporting that Luther“s Idris Elba is “circling”; the role of magician Merlin, indicating Guy Ritchie’s version of this oft-filmed tale is “shaping up to be a pretty good version.”;
