Britney Spears’ latest album just came out a few months ago, but she says that she’s already hard at work on a followup.
In an interview with Vegas Player, the “Toxic” singer reveals that “Glory” — which was released in August — was years in the making, but that likely won’t be the case with her next album.
“It took us a couple of years to make this album, and of course over time, musical styles change and sometimes other ideas pop up that you just like better,” says Spears. “The songs on ‘Glory’ were no-brainers for me — they were the best of all the songs we recorded.”
Her next release, while still in its early stages, may wind up sounding nothing like its predecessor, she hints. “I’m not sure what I want the next album to sound like,” she adds. “I just know that I’m excited to get into the studio again and actually have already been back recording.”
Spears’ Las Vegas residency continues until May 2017, and she discusses whether she has any plans to go on tour after wrapping up her blockbuster “Britney: Piece of Me” show at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. “I’m not sure yet,” she says of a potential summer tour.
