There have been some pretty hefty music industry rivalries over the years: Biggie vs. Tupac, Oasis vs. Blur, Nirvana vs. Guns n’ Roses, Chris Brown vs. Drake. But we have to say, the newest contributors to the list are an unlikely pair to be sure: Ferrari vs. Deadmau5.
Here’s the scoop: a while back, the Canadian DJ / producer (né Joel Thomas Zimmerman) supped up his Ferrari 458 Spider. Nothing new under the hood, mind you: just some aesthetic customizations. See for yourself:
Yes, that’s internet meme Nyan Cat on the side of the sports car, which has since been nicknamed “The Purrari.’ Hey, to each their own, right?
Long story short, Ferrari wasn’t thrilled with the new look. Specifically the word “Purrari,’ which adorned parts of the car’s interior. As such, it threatened Deadmau5 with legal action.
Needless to say, the performer was none-too-pleased with the litigious luxury car-maker, and took to Twitter to express his frustration.
I wonder if the jackass lawyer at @FerrariUSA who sent us a “cease and desist”; letter over the purrari is un-butthurt now that I unwrapped.

Yeah it was mostly about the custom floor matts and the custom purrari badges. Whatever. It’s just a normal ass 458 now. All good.
