In an apparent publicity stunt, Joan Rivers chained herself to a shopping cart in a Costco store to protest the retail giant’s refusal to sell her new book, “I Hate Everything… Starting With Me”;, on Tuesday.
KABC-TV reports that the comedienne used a bullhorn during her unapproved appearance, signing autographs for fans and she proceeded to sell her books outside of the store.
The TV personality argues: “It’s about First Amendment rights. Costco banned my book because of one word on the back cover. I feel like this is a country where the people should have the right to have the literature they want. This is the beginning of Nazi Germany. The worst thing about Costco was they kicked me out without giving me any free samples.”
The Burbank Police Department arrived on the scene and there were reportedly no charges filed, since she cooperated when asked to leave the store.
