With only three more days until Christmas, it’s clear that Chris Martin’s philanthropic ways never take a day off.

The singer ventured out to The Bowery Mission on Wednesday for a special tour of the homeless shelter, which led him to host an impromptu fundraiser that very same night!

“Chris Martin proved once again the power of one person to make a difference through The Bowery Mission,” Mission’s Director of Outreach James Macklin told E! News.  “As the temperatures drop and we serve thousands of lonely people during the holidays, Chris has lifted our spirits today.”

Taking the stage at Mercury Lounge Wednesday night, the British singer delivered an intimate and rousing once-in-a-lifetime performance in support of the New York City charity.

In addition to performing some of his very own hits, Martin served up covers from Prince, David Bowie and The Beatles.

The night of music raised more than $4,000 for the Mission. Fans looking to contribute can still align themselves with Martin’s mission by donating.
