English singer-songwriter and former Wham! member George Michael has passed away at the age of 53 due to heart failure.
The cause of death was confirmed by the singer’s longtime manager Michael Lippman, who says Michael was found on Christmas morning — per The Hollywood Reporter.
The recording artist’s publicist told The Sun that Michael died peacefully in his home: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother, and friend, George, passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.”

“The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage,” the publicist added.

The Thames Valley Police described the death as unexplained, but had no suspicions in a statement obtained by ET Canada: “At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious,” the statement continued. “A post mortem will be undertaken in due course. There will be no further updates from Thames Valley Police until the post mortem has taken place.”
