Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock Holmes on the hit BBC drama but it looks like playing the iconic character in the series is changing him. Well, according to his mother, at least.

The star’s mother says he’s becoming just as abrupt and impatient as the famous detective. Actress Wanda Ventham came to this realization in her interactions with him when he is filming the series.

In an interview with Radio TimesCumberbatch agreed. “I do get affected by it. There’s a sense of being impatient. My mum says I’m much curter with her when I’m filming ‘Sherlock’,” the actor admitted.

In addition to that, his mother also thought he wasn’t handsome enough to play the character. Sherlock showrunner Steven Moffat told Time Out he shared her sentiments. “Benedict’s mum didn’t think he was good-looking enough to play Sherlock. Nobody did,” he spilled.
