The Wham! star passed away suddenly on Christmas Day in his home at only 53 years old. Heart failure was reported to be the original cause of death, but further tests will now be conducted to determine what exactly killed the singer, Thames Valley Police said in a statement reported by the BBC.
His death is still being treated as unexplained but not suspicious after the post-mortem examination on Thursday. Michael’s was found deceased by his partner Fadi Fawaz, who said the English recording artist was lying “peacefully in bed. I went round there to wake him up and he was just gone. We don’t know what happened yet,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
