With a new set, a new studio, a new attitude, two new co-hosts and a high-profile returnee, Monday’s premiere of The View gave viewers a whole new format to check out. If the debut ratings are any indication, the new View is a winner, giving the show its highest ratings in eight years.

With moderator Whoopi Goldberg joined by newbies Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace, as well as former host Rosie O’Donnell (who returned to the show after one controversial season), millions of viewers tuned in to check out the show’s new panel. According to an announcement sent out by ABC, total U.S. viewership of Monday’s season premiere topped 3.9 million — the highest rating the show has achieved since Rosie first joined the show in 2006. In addition, this is also the show’s second-biggest premiere audience ever.
Whether or not the show can sustain those ratings is another story, although at this point it sure looks like the decision to bring Rosie back was a good one. Stay tuned…
