Sunday night’s Golden Globes contained no shortage of awkward moments, from host Jimmy Fallon coping with a show-opening teleprompter fail to Tom Hiddleston’s cringe-inducing, self-serving acceptance speech.
One awkward moment you may have missed, however, took place when Billy Bob Thornton won the acting award for his role in Amazon drama “Goliath”. When his name was called, Thornton breezed past a table full of celebs, one of whom was his ex Laura Dern (the pair dated from 1997 until 1999 and even got engaged — until Thornton dumped her to marry Angelina Jolie — who subsequently dumped him for Brad Pitt.
As Thornton whisked by to pick up his Globe, Dern sat stone-faced as he brushed past, mere inches away.
The awkwardness did not escape TV viewers, who took to Twitter to share their impressions of the incident and theorize that time has not healed this particular wound.
