Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Agree To Settle Divorce And Custody Battle Privately, Release Joint Statement

In an effort to uphold their children’s privacy, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have agreed to keep their divorce and custody battle private as their ongoing legal woes becomes increasingly bitter.

A joint statement released late Monday evening outlined the terms of the former couple’s arrangement going forward: “The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues,” their reps told Us Weekly. “The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.”

According to TMZ, Pitt requested an emergency hearing to seal their legal documents last month.

Last week, Jolie agreed with Pitt’s motion to have all documents pertaining to their six children sealed but maintained that Pitt was “terrified that the public will learn the truth.”

“There is little doubt that [Pitt] would prefer to keep the entire case private, particularly given the detailed investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Children and Family Services into allegation of abuse,” documents filed by Jolie’s attorney Laura Wasser reportedly claimed.

The statement comes one day after Pitt received a roaring welcome as he made a surprise appearance at the Golden Globes on Sunday night.
