Most people have had the urge to tell the boss, in the immortal words of country singer Johnny Paycheck, to “take this job and shove it,”; but few have done it so spectacularly as Alaska news reporter Charlo Greene.

During an on-air newscast about medical marijuana for Anchorage TV station KTVA, Greene dropped a bombshell when she outed herself of the owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club — about which she had just reported — and then tendered her resignation right there on live TV, using some colourful language that is definitely NSFW.

“Now everything you’ve heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska,”; says Greene. “And as for this job, well, not that I have a choice but, f**k it, I quit.”;

Although the newscast’s stunned anchor had no idea what to do next, the station’s news director quickly released a statement indicating that Greene had been fired: “Dear Viewers,”; wrote news director Bert Rudman. “We sincerely apologize for the inappropriate language used by a KTVA reporter during her live presentation on the air tonight. The employee has been terminated.”;

In a subsequent interview with The Alaska Dispatch News, Greene explained that her commitment to seeing marijuana decriminalized in Alaska is what caused her to quit her job in such dramatic fashion: “Because I wanted to draw attention to this issue,”; said Greene. “And the issue is medical marijuana. Ballot Measure 2 is a way to make medical marijuana real … most patients didn’t know the state didn’t set up the framework to get patients their medicine. If I offended anyone, I apologize, but I’m not sorry for the choice that I made.”;
