UPDATE: Monday, Sept. 22: Dowton Abbey star Laura Carmichael (who plays Lady Edith on the Brit hit) has spilled the beans about George Clooney’s upcoming appearance in a Downton charity video, revealing the Gravity star tries to steal a kiss from the Dowager Countess herself.
That’s right, the love scene we never thought we’d see between George Clooney and Maggie Smith actually happened, and Laura gave an account of the scene during an appearance on U.K. morning show This Morning, recounts The Hollywood Reporter.
“There’s a very brilliant moment with Maggie and George — I don’t know if I want to give away any more than that really — but George wants to a kiss, and Maggie ends up on the floor. It’s wonderful,”; she said, adding that the cast was gobsmacked when Clooney showed up on the set unannounced.
“We didn’t know it would happen until he turned up,”; said Laura. “We were filming anywa.”;
