Ouch! Audience Laughs When LiLo Forgets Her Lines In Stage Debut

By Brent Furdyk.

Lindsay Lohan is currently in London preparing to make her stage debut in a West End production of Speed-the-Plow. If last night’s preview performance is any indication, however, things don’t seem to be going too well.

According to a review in The New York Daily News, Lindsay looked “pale and nervous”; and struggled to remember her lines while missing cues, with members of the backstage crew shouting her lines to her when her memory failed.

According to reviewer Nico Hines in The Daily Beast, the first time Lindsay missed a cue, the audience sat silently. When she missed a second one, the awkward pause elicited “titters”; from the audience. However, when costar Richard Schiff (The West Wing) followed her mistake with the scripted line, “You have done a fantastic job!”; the audience laughed even louder. In addition, some of Lohan’s lines in the acclaimed David Mamet play that are meant to be taken seriously were greeted with laughs due to her line readings.

Although the Daily News’ reviewer Tom Latchem admitted the play “wasn’t an unmitigated disaster,”; he described Lindsay’s performance as “shaky.”;

Opening night of Speed-the-Plow is next Thursday, Oct. 2.
