DMX is being pressured by a pet boarding facility in Warwick, Rhode Island, which claims the rapper’s dog has been staying there since August 2016 — and DMZ stopped paying the bills in October.
According to the owner of Four Paws Pet Resort, DMX boarded his one-year-old pit bull — named “X” — before he went out on tour, where the dog remains even though DMX is no longer paying the boarding fees. This has placed the facility in a difficult position since DMX hasn’t signed the dog over to them, reports Rhode Island’s ABC 6 News.
“I was able to get him on the phone and I asked him very specifically if he would he like us to assist him and adopt out his dog,” says Chad Callahan, owner of Four Paws Pet Resort. “He said yes. So, I asked him to send us a letter relinquishing ownership of the dog and we’d be happy to help. He agreed but then a month went by and we didn’t hear from him again.”

Because DMX hasn’t yet officially signed the dog over to Callahan, the dog is currently in limbo with nowhere to go, as the facility does not have the permission to find him a new home.
“Bully breeds don’t fare very well in shelters,” adds Callahan. “They try their best but staff often get overwhelmed with them and a lot of them get euthanized. He’s such a nice sweet dog and he doesn’t deserve that so we’re just trying to do our part.”
According to ABC 6, DMX has several animal cruelty charges on his record, although Callahan says “X” doesn’t appear to exhibit any indications of abuse. If DMX doesn’t turn up to claim the dog, Animal Control will have to become involved.
