A report from TMZ says the Canadian-born singer’s ex-manager Jonathan Schwartz pled guilty to wire fraud and filing a false tax return in relation to an embezzlement plot. Schwartz is alleged to have snagged a plea deal by admitting his guilt in a scheme that saw Morissette stripped of $4.8 million over four years.
Her ex-manager is said to have previously worked with both Beyonce and Mariah Carey, and is reported to have stolen $1.7 million from other clients in the past.

It is believed that Schwartz’s original charges saw him facing a potential 23 years in jail, with hopes that the plea deal will reward him with a reduced sentence.
A civil lawsuit filed by Morissette against her former manager was settled in June 2016, with the “Jagged Little Pill” singer awarded an undisclosed sum.
