Donald Trump is making promises that sound awfully familiar to movie fans.

Vowing to give power “back to you, the people,” during his inauguration speech, Trump — presumably unintentionally — dropped a Bane reference from “The Dark Knight Rises”.

“Today’s ceremony, however, has a very special meaning because today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people,” Trump said.

Batman villain Bane, played by Tom Hardy, made a similar proclamation from the steps of Gotham’s Blackgate Prison in the 2012 film:

“We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity. And we give it to you, the people.”

The borrowed Bane reference didn’t go unnoticed by Twitter users, who were quick to draw comparisons between Trump and the comic-book villain, who is eventually defeated by Christian Bale’s Batman.
