Cyndi Lauper has revealed her true thoughts on Madonna’s speech at the Women’s March on Washington.
During an appearance alongside Rod Stewart on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen”, the 63-year-old “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” singer remarked that while she was “glad” that Madonna attended the march, she wasn’t too keen on the pop star’s allegedly angered speech.
“I don’t think that it served our purpose because anger is not better than clarity and humanity,” Lauper said, as Stewart nodded. “That is what opens people’s minds. When you want to change people’s minds, you have to share your real story.”
Despite praising the words of actress Scarlett Johansson, who opened up about her personal experience with Planned Parenthood, Lauper added, “Yelling just jacks people up. It doesn’t communicate any kind of humanity or any kind of story that would open another person’s mind.”
