Sure, the weekend ain’t over yet, but if predictions hold, two new movies will soon have plenty to celebrate.

Fox’s Gone Girl pulled in $12 million on Friday, and is expected to close out the weekend with a more-than-impressive $35 million. The David Fincher-directed drama stars Ben Affleck as a man fighting for his innocence after being implicated in the disappearance of his wife.

Meanwhile, New Line and Warner Bros.’ Annabelle rounded up $14 million on its opening day, with industry projections placing its weekend haul at $30 million. The horror film tells the tale of a couple that discovers a vintage doll in their home may be possessed by supernatural forces. Annabelle was shot on a mere $6 budget.

Not so great news for Left Behind, the weekend’s other new release. The Nicholas Cage thriller about the rapture is expected to finish out with a Friday to Sunday gross of $2.7 million.
