Update: Sarah Hyland has been issued a three-year restraining order against former boyfriend Matthew Prokop, ET Canada confirms.
Los Angeles Superior Courts ordered the long-term protection last week, granting the Modern Family star all of the precautions that she previously outlined for herself and her maltipoo dog, Barkley.
According to the restraining order, Prokop must now remain 100 yards away from the actress, her home and her dog; refrain from frequenting her workplace; abstain from purchasing or possessing a gun; and avoid attacking, threatening or harming Barkley.
The order, which went into effect on Thursday, expires October 2, 2017.
Modern Family star Sarah Hyland has filed a temporary restraining order against her former boyfriend of five years, Matt Prokop.
This according to court documents obtained by TMZ, which contend Matt threatened, pushed, and choked the 23-year-old back in May.
The documents also detail numerous threats allegedly made against the actress, including a series of “vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voicemails.”;
Sarah chose to file the restraining order in the wake of Matt’s September 21st release from an undisclosed rehab centre. A Los Angeles County judge has granted the request, and not solely due to her compelling testimony: a director at the facility advised the court that Matt’s current mental state — particularly toward Sarah — should be deemed questionable.
Matt is now required to stay at least 100 yards from Sarah at all times. Meanwhile, Sarah’s legal representative, Lee A. Sherman, has issued this statement: “The documents filed speak for themselves. Out of respect for the court, the process and all parties, I have advised Ms. Hyland not to comment on the matter. We request that you respect the parties’ privacy during this time.”;
