Step aside, Ryan Gosling! Emma Stone’s got two other Canadian BFFs.
Promptly after taking the stage to accept her Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress, Emma Stone headed backstage to dish about her evening plans with ET Canada’s Sangita Patel and talk quickly turned to all things Canadian.
“You know my two best friends in the world are Canadian,” Emma revealed to Sangita.
“One’s named Suge and one’s named Martha and one’s from Prince Edward Island and the other from Scarborough.”
And it seems the lucky Canucks were on hand to celebrate the momentous occasion. Emma revealed that her plans following the awards show were pretty simple.
“I’m going to go hang out with my friends,” she shared with Sangita. “Suge and Martha are two of them, so it’s perfect.”
The 28-year-old actress delighted the crowd with her impromptu acceptance speech, taking a moment to address the current “scary” political climate.
“We’re in a tricky time in the world and our country and things are inexcusable and scary and need action,” she said. “I’m so grateful to be a part of a group of people that cares and wants to reflect things back to society.
With Stone up for an Academy Award at the end of February, the “La La Land” star made sure to make it known her most recent honour was all she was thinking about.
“Even if I tried to do that, I don’t think it would work out well,” Stone says of prepping a speech for the Oscars. “Really I can’t think of anything beyond what’s happening right now, this is so overwhelming and so insane as it is, I’m right here right now.”
