According to social media, the answer is a resounding yes. In fact, news of the “Lemonade” singer’s pregnancy pretty much took over Twitter on Wednesday, with more than a half-million Beyonce-related tweets issued within 45 minutes of the announcement.
In addition, Queen Bey also set an Instagram record, with her Instagram announcement racking up 6.33 million likes within eight hours of being posted, and also received a staggering 334,000 comments. Within 24 hours, Beyonce’s post had been liked 7 million times, setting a new Instagram record.
“We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes,” Beyonce and husband Jay Z wrote in a post on Beyonce’s Instagram page, which included a photo showcasing her ample baby bump.
According to stats from Twitter, within just a few minutes of Beyonce’s announcement, #Twins became Twitter’s top trend, while #Beyonce, #Blue and #Beyhive were also trending.
By 1:54 p.m. ET — 15 minutes after the announcement — more than 17,000 tweets per minute were being issued; within 45 minutes, more than a half-million tweets about the surprise news had entered the Twitterverse.
