Remember how Batman kind of stole the show in The Lego Movie? Well, the folks at Warner Bros. sure do. Which explains why they’ve given the go-ahead to a Lego spin-off film featuring everyone’s favourite interlocking plastic brick caped crusader.
And not unlike the Dark Knight speeding along in his Batmobile, this thing is coming in fast. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter confirms The Lego Movie’s official sequel (which is definitely still in the works) will be pushed back in favour of the Batman spinoff.
Despite the fast-tracking, animation still takes a heck of a long time. Which means the earliest we can expect to see Lego Batman up on the big screen is 2017. So that’s the frustrating news. But on the plus side, Canada’s own Will Arnett will be lending his oh-so-gravelly voice to the character once again.
