A few weeks back, South Park spoofed New Zealand pop phenom Lorde in an outrageous sequence that found Randy Marsh (father of Stan) unable to book Lorde for a concert, so instead he impersonates the 17-year-old singer and performs a ridiculous song that essentially proclaims, “I am Lorde, ya ya ya.”;
In a recent interview with New Zealand’s TV3, Lorde proves she has a sense of humour about the whole thing, admitting she found the bit funny — and even performs her own version of the South Park song.
“I was thinking, “Yeah he has a moustache… I mean I have a moustache, but is it that prominent?’ But it was someone’s dad pretending to be me,”; Lorde explains in her TV3 interview. “We actually, in my hotel room, went “Ya ya ya ya ya, I’m Lorde! Ya ya ya!’ for, like, an hour, because that’s what they do on the episode, so…”;
