With a cast that included such stars-to-be as James Franco, Busy Philipps, Jason Segel, Linda Cardellini and Seth Rogen, Freaks and Geeks remains beloved by fans despite being cancelled in 2000 after only one season.

One Freaks and Geeks star who still hasn’t gotten over the sting of cancellation is Seth Rogen, and in an interview with HuffPostLive he recounts a recent run-in with the same network exec who axed the show all those years ago.

As Seth explains, he and his wife were hanging out with pal Paul Rudd at this weekend’s Saturday Night Live when Seth heard a familiar name that brought back some painful memories.

“I overheard someone say the name of the guy who cancelled Freaks and Geeks,” reveals Seth. “I know his name, obviously, because we’ve talked about how stupid he is for the past 15 years.”

Zeroing in on the unnamed executive, Seth says he called him on his bad decision — and the exec stubbornly insisted he made the right move. “He was like, ‘You know, [series exec producer] Judd [Apatow] wouldn’t listen to my notes.’ I was like, ‘The notes were probably stupid.’ He oddly dug in and kind of tried to justify it.”
