Anyone who’s seen No Country For Old Men and Skyfall knows one simple, immutable fact: Javier Bardem makes one heck of a scary bad guy. We’re talking seriously, mind-numbingly creepy.

So is it any wonder that the Pirates of the Caribbean producers want him to play the main villain in their upcoming sequel? Short answer: no. No it isn’t.

Not a done deal yet, mind you, but the 45-year-old actor is in early talks to be the go-to baddie in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The film shoots in Australia next year (for five months!), and although details are sketchy, Javier would play a ghost captain who blames Captain Jack Sparrow for the death of his brother.

Definitely on board for the next installment: Geoffrey Rush as Barbosa, and the irreplaceable Johnny Depp as Captain Jack.
