Perhaps best known for her hit song “Paper Planes”, which was featured in both “Slum Dog Millionaire” and “Pineapple Express”, M.I.A.’s new music video is a crazy blend of high-octane sound, scenic shots and a mind-blowing exhibit of human dominoes.

The track is from the 41-year-old British rapper’s fifth studio album “A.I.M”, released back in September. Her trademark politically-fuelled and worldly lyrics are back, as she name-drops political figures and entertainers alike. At one point she references Barack Obama and Osama Bin Laden. “I’m not Rihanna/ I’m not Madonna/ I’m not Mariah/ Or Ariana,” M.I.A sings in another line. “I’ve been around in this world causing drama/ The real spice girl, hot girl power.”

Arguably the coolest thing in the music video is the dance troupe, consisting of a couple dozen dancers in identical outfits. They move in perfect rhythm, like the body of a snake, to illustrate illusions of waves and domino effects.

“P.O.W.A” is M.I.A.’s first single of 2017.

In 2012, the artist snagged a high-profile feature along with Nicki Minaj on Madonna’s Canadian-chart topping single “Give Me All Your Luvin'”.
