So what do you do when you’re popular enough to accrue 65 million social media followers and 100 million monthly YouTube views? Well, if you’re Ellen DeGeneres, you start your own digital media empire, of course.

On Thursday, the Emmy-winning talk show host announced the creation of Ellentube. It’s a web site, it’s an app, and most of all, it’s a place for her countless fans to post, view, and even interact.

Think of it as YouTube specifically for Ellen watchers. Ellentube will centre on video playlists separated into a number of categories, including Cats, Kids, Funny, Incredible, Trending, Heads Up!, and Celebrity Scares. To boot, fans are encouraged to upload their own submissions, which will be vetted by Ellentube staff members before going live. The cream of the crop may even end up being featured on The Ellen Show.

“What makes our site different than any other place,”; Ellen explained, “is that if you accidentally type in a wrong word, you’re not going to stumble upon something that’s bad or mean or something like that. So everything on the site is fun, and there is nothing mean-spirited.”;
