Ricky Martin Talks Raising His Twin Boys On The Road: ‘I Am Their Stability’

A week after revealing he met his fiance on Instagram, Ricky Martin is opening up even further about his family life and his adorable eight-year-old twins, Matteo and Valentino.

Sitting down for a one-on-one interview with Dr. Oz, the Puerto Rican star spoke about his children’s lives as he jets around the globe performing. “I am their stability,” he said in a preview of the ‘The Dr Oz Show”, airing Wednesday. “It hasn’t been challenging.”

“They’ve been travelling since they were born because I’ve been on the road ever since, pretty much. A lot of people tell me, ‘Rick, but when are you gonna stop [touring], because kids, they need stability,’ and I’m like, ‘Stability? I am their stability. If I’m not around they will feel completely unstable,’” Martin added confidently. “We are home-schooling at the moment, but they’re doing great.”

Stability does, in fact, lie ahead for Martin and his kids. The “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer begins his Las Vegas residency at the Monte Carlo’s Park Theater in April.

“Everything that I do, every decision that I make is based on them… is based on their well-being,” he added. “That was a commitment that I made when I decided to become a father. And they are a little bit like my religion because, they don’t know it, but they’re like little life-savers. Because once again, when I have to make a decision, whatever that decision is, I think of them and it turns out to be the right decision.”

Martin welcomed his two children through surrogacy in August 2008. He recently got engaged to his boyfriend of one year, conceptual artist Jwan Yosef.
