We’ve seen Jerry Seinfeld appear on sitcoms, reality shows, talk shows and pretty much any other kind of show to air on television, but the evening news?
Yet that was the case yesterday when the iconic star dropped by NBC Nightly News to speak with anchor Brian Williams about the upcoming season of his hit web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
In the interview, he explains why, after earning hundreds of millions from Seinfeld, he continues to be driven by laughter, and it’s not unlikely to find him spending his nights honing new material on the stage of some dingy comedy club.
As a comedian, he tells Williams, “If you’re more interested in what you have achieved or what your financial position enables you to do, than that thing that got those things, you’re screwed — in my opinion, you’re screwed.”;
Seinfeld also admits that he thinks he may be mildly autistic. “I think, on a very drawn-out scale, I think I’m on the spectrum,”; he says. “You know, never paying attention to the right things. Basic social engagement is really a struggle. I’m very literal, when people talk to me and they use expressions, sometimes I don’t know what they’re saying. But I don’t see it as dysfunctional. I just think of it as an alternate mindset.”;
