Henry Cavill and Nicholas Hoult head up Netflix’s newest original movie, “Sand Castle”, set in 2003 during the Iraq conflict.
In the tense first trailer, we meet Hoult’s character, Private Matt Ocre, an inexperienced and reluctant solider who attempts to get out of active duty by purposefully breaking his hand.
The trailer teases an honest look at the soldiers caught in the Iraq War and the Iraqi citizens who wanted the Americans out of their country. Scriptwriter Chris Roessner based the story on his own experiences in Iraq.
The streaming provider’s big budget action film to date, which also stars Glen Powell and Logan Marshall-Green, will be released on April 21.
“Sand Castle” is just the latest high-profile movie for Netflix. Other Netflix original films on the horizon include Will Smith’s movie “Bright”, as well as Tilda Swinton’s films “War Machine” with Brad Pitt and “Okja” with Jake Gyllenhaal.
