The “Merc With a Mouth” will be returning next year in “Deadpool 2”, and moviegoers received a sneak peek at the upcoming superhero sequel in a special post-credits sequence tacked onto the end of “Logan”, the “X-Men”-inspired film that opened in theatres on Friday.

In the clip, Wade/Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) is strolling in a seedy neighbourhood when he witnesses an elderly man being mugged by a hoodlum.

“Not on my watch, motherf***er,” he says before jumping inside a phone booth to change into his Deadpool duds, Man of Steel-style, while John Williams’ theme music from 1978’s “Superman” plays in the background.

Also heard in the background is the victim’s increasing distress as he’s apparently brutally beaten by his attacker; unfortunately, Deadpool is no Superman when it comes to donning his costume in a phone booth, which takes him significantly longer than it ever did Clark Kent; by the time Deadpool finally emerges fully costumed and ready for action, the mugger is long gone and the victim is dead.

“Oh, that’s not good,” remarks Deadpool when he sees the carnage. “No, no, no. Oh, you’re not gonna walk that one off. That’s so gross.”

Luckily for Deadpool (if not for the victim), the deceased was on his way home from picking up groceries, including a carton of Ben & Jerry’s “Cherry Garcia” ice cream.

“You gonna eat this?” Deadpool asks the corpse as he tears off the lid. “Don’t answer now.”

“Deadpool 2” is scheduled to hit theatres on Mar. 2, 2018.
