Canadian singer-songwriter Feist has ponied up some serious dough to help fund a new documentary from Attiya Khan.
The “1234”; recording artist pledged $10,000 this week to the Indiegogo campaign for A Better Man. The film will address the subject of violence against women and highlight the desire for change. Sarah Polley is as an executive producer for this documentary.
“A Better Man will tell our story, while also bringing to light the incredible work people are doing with men who are hurting others,”; explains Khan, a survivor of intimate partner violence. “It has the power to strengthen the movement to end violence against women through a deeper focus on abusive men.”;
The campaign has currently raised one third of its $75,000 goal.
“The hidden dynamic of abuse is pervasive and is often shrouded by an uncomfortable politeness between witnesses and the details,”; said Feist on the film. “From the courageous position of a woman who’s had 20 years to consider what she endured and with a willingness to hear another version of the same experience, I believe this will be an important documentary and spark a conversation we will all benefit from.”;
The campaign launched on November 9 and is scheduled to close a minute before midnight on December 19. We have the campaign trailer below.
