While the world mourns the loss of Carrie Fisher, fans can at least remember her through the vast body of work she left behind, ranging from her performances in the “Star Wars” films to her critically acclaimed novels and HBO production of her one-woman show, “Wishful Drinking”.
One of Fisher’s creative efforts, however, has never seen the light of day until now: a song that she co-wrote with Sean Lennon, son of Yoko Ono and the late John Lennon.
“Carrie and I wrote this song years ago,” explains Lennon on his Soundcloud account. “When she died I just felt I had to record it. This is only a demo unmixed, we only had a few hours to record it. But the lyrics she wrote with me I think are marvelous. Carrie and I used to stay up til dawn chatting and pontificating about life. They were my best moments. Anyway… we wrote a song about staying up too late and hearing the birds sing.”
Lennon also reveals a special appearance on the track from “Whip My Hair” singer Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
“Willow Smith is a prodigal angel and was generous enough to lend her golden voice to this little tune,” adds Lennon.
